About Amana
Amana Corporation, founded in 1934, is a subsidiary of Whirlpool. They manufactured the first upright freezer for home use in 1947. In 1967 Amana introduced the first commercially popular microwave oven for home. They manufacture a wide range of products including air conditioners, dishwashers, dryers and cloth washers. Their headquarters is located in Newton, Iowa, U.S.
The Amana Refrigeration Inc which was founded to manufacture walk-in coolers was acquired in 1965 by Raytheon. Later its ownership was transferred from Goodman Global to the Whirlpool Corporation.
The Maytag corporation is also a subsidiary of Whirlpool and was founded in 1893. At the beginning they only produced washing machines but later started manufacturing dryers, dishwashers, cooktops and refrigerators. The company operates brands such as jenn-Air, Amana and Magic Chef.
